Survey Pirate

I love pirates.  I think you know this.  It seems to run in my family.  At any rate, when I stumbled upon an application called Survey Pirate, I knew I had found the home for our latest Distracted Globe survey!  It’s been five years since we started, about a month since we closed our season, and a couple weeks until our next improv show, so we thought now was an ideal time to tap y’all on the virtual shoulder and ask for your opinions about the kind of work we are doing, were doing, and could be doing.  So please take a few moments to CLICK HERE and take our survey.  It really will be a big help!

Cable

Okay, so Jen (who does most of the blogging) does not have cable.  And she doesn’t live in Greenville either, so even if she did have cable, she wouldn’t be experiencing the angst that so many of you faithful Greenvillians are currently experiencing.  It’s all anyone can talk about on facebook - Charter changed around the channels and now no one can find anything.  Mass hysteria!  So here’s my promise to you - we won’t change our channel.  We’ll stay thedistractedglobe.com and thedistractedglobe.blogsome.com and youtube.com/thedistractedglobe.  That’s who we are, and that’s who we’ll stay!  You won’t attempt to visit us tomorrow and find that your beloved Globe has been replaced or reshuffled, and all you can locate is thirteen versions of Extreme Home Makeover and a reality show featuring Blagoyevich’s wife.  You’ll find us… right here.

But hey, just because we’re not going anywhere doesn’t mean that we don’t love to share in the angsting.  So… what channel was the first one you went looking for when you discovered the switch?  Were you dying for the History Channel?  Longing for some TLC?  Itching for C-Span?  What’s your poison?  Leave your channel and your saga in the comments below… and we’ll commiserate with you (except for Jen… she’ll just smile and pop in another Buffy DVD).

What are you doing?

Well, our summer has ended, and we’re all back to our normal lives.  Jared is Banking.  Rick is Architecting.  Jen is grad schooling.  Jayce and Anne and Traysie and Michele are shaping the minds of our youth.  Anne is talking about philately.  Rick is Austrian.  Ryan is a high maintenance actor.  The Warehouse is goin’ fishin’.  And what the heck are you doing?  Let us know what life looks like for you globesters!  We miss you, and look forward to seeing you in September as we improv away our cares and responsibilities.

Want a Prize?

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’ve been playing online improv on our facebook page for a good long while now.  In fact, we have 149 separate people (other than Distracted Globe company members) who have joined in to play with us online.  We think that’s pretty cool!  And we think we can get to 200.  AND… when we do, we’re gonna give away something for free to one or two lucky online improv players!  What will it be?  We don’t know… yet.  But we hope you’ll come over and play with us, giving you a chance not only to play awesome games with awesome people, but also to win some fabulous, though heretofore undefined Distracted Globe prize!  Gotta love it!

Another Day… Another Birthday

Well, today is Jen’s birthday… and not just any birthday.  Today she’s 30.  And hey, everyone loves a milestone.

So Happy Birthday to Jen… and her 30-year-old feet.

The Rest of the Summer

So, if you’re anything like us, your big summer plans have already been completed.  You’ve returned from your vacation, the kids are back from camp, summer school is done, the two plays that you decided to rehearse and perform at the same time have closed.  Summer is winding down and autumn responsibilities are creeping into the periphery.  So the question is… how are you going to spend the rest of these precious (albeit ridiculously humid) summer days?  Jen is rewatching Lost and going to DC for her 30th birthday.  Rick is in rehearsals for The Sound of Music.  Traysie is rockin’ it out to Abba at the Cafe and Then Some.  What are you doing?
