What are you doing…

You’ve heard that song?  "What are you doing, New Years Eve?"  No?  Well… schmaltzy song.  Good times.  And we have a little suggestion for what you can do New Years Eve.

Party with the Warehouse Theatre!

Usher in 2009 with the funnest mostest awesomest people in town!  Awwwww yeah.  Festivities start at 11:00… so you’ll have plenty of time to make your obligatory appearances at all those other parties (collect all the people who would much rather be at the Warehouse as you go!) before hitting the main event!  It’s $10 (which goes toward supporting the Warehouse - a bonafide cultural treasure here in Gville - and the home of the Distracted Globe!), and you get fun times, munchies, a champagne toast at midnight, the DJ services of Truly Kinetic Sounds… how can you pass it up!?!

So call The Warehouse to let ‘em know you’ll be coming to what we humbly proclaim the ultimate year-end-theatrically-minded-but-still-fun-for-non-theatre-types blowout of the century!

Be there with your bunny hats on.

Boxing Day

You know that carol "Good King Wenceslas?"  I think it’s probably my least favorite Christmas song of all time.  I’m not sure why.  Perhaps it’s the jaunty rhythm.  Perhaps it’s the fact that it has 37 verses.  Anyway - you know that "Good King Wenceslas looked out, on the Feast of Stephen," right?  Well… that’s today!  Today is St. Stephen’s Day - AKA Boxing Day!  It’s a day to punch other people as you catapult yourself through the after Christmas sales.  It’s also a day when, traditionally, the rich would give to the poor.  Hmmm… you know who’s really poor these days?  Theatres and other arts organizations.  What a nice way to celebrate Boxing Day (and to get that last minute 2008 tax deduction) - giving to your friendly neighborhood arts organizations!  So go visit The Warehouse and show them some year end, Boxing Day love.  And try to be gentle when you’re out there punching people in the aisles today… or at least make sure to knock out that bitch who grabbed the last Wii with one punch!

Happy Boxing Day!

Third Annual Extravaganza

Well, ladies and gents, we had a great time with this weekend’s shows. And we know that to make your holiday merriment complete, you’ll want to relive those precious politically correct, non-denominational, winter holiday moments. So here you go. Watch, rate, comment… ENJOY!

And have a fantastically happy holiday! We’ll see you in 2009! (Or we’ll see you on New Year’s Eve at The Warehouse Theatre… the biggest New Year’s fun in town!)

One More Night

We had a very strange evening of improv last night… with Sarah Palin’s gingerbread house, unruly silent reindeer, Santa’s Vietnam flashbacks, and don’t even about the mall Santa lap dance… it’s was madness!  And we’ve got one more night!

So come tonight at 10:00 for more music and more unpredictable holiday fun!  It’s our last improv of 2008… so you know we’ll ring out the year with a bang!

The Disturbing Truth

Well, we’ve closed our last poll, and started a new one in honor of the stressful holiday season.  But I thought you would want to know that, of all the play titles provided, most of our devoted readers said that their life is best described by the play title Fat Men in Skirts by Nicky Silver.  And not a one of you claimed the uber sappy Love Letters by A.R.Gurney, or the scandalous Psychopathia Sexualis by John Patrick Shanley.  Interesting.  I’m not all that surprised about Love Letters taking a back seat…

Never mind.

At any rate, here are the results from the last poll - click on the chart to get the larger, readable version.

Now hop over to the right hand nav and take our new poll… and then get psyched to come play with us this Friday and Saturday at 10:00!

Your Favorite Holiday Tradition

That’s right!  It’s the inevitable return of the Politically Correct, Non-Denominational, Winter Holiday Extravaganza!  This is its third appearance, can you believe it?  And this year we’ll be joined by our friends Projekt Lotus… so you know this year’s extravaganza will be extra extravaganza-ish.  Wahoo!

It’ll be the 19th and 20th after performances of Hear What’s in the Heart: A Shoemaker’s Tale… at 10:00pm!  Yes… make a note of that… we’ll be kicking off a little earlier than usual.

So bring your friends and your wassailling spirit… and we’ll commiserate with you about the fact that we haven’t finished our shopping either!

In the meanwhile, be sure to leave a comment here to let us know if you have anything specific you want to see from this year’s extravaganza!  Heck, we’re so in the spirit, we just might listen to you!

See y’all soon!

Indoor Foliage

Well, this year my parents are going to Italy for Christmas, so I am on my own… which means, for only the second time in my increasingly less short life, I bought my own tree!  And I wanted to share it with you globesters out there… because I’m kinda proud of my little tree.

So far, my cat has pretty much left it alone, but I sort of have this feeling that she’s lulling me into a false sense of security, so in the middle of the night, I’ll hear the sound of it crashing to the floor amidst the sound of meows that sound oddly like a cackle.  But for now, all seems to be Christmas-y and copacetic.

So there ya go… if you come a-wassailing down my street in Columbia… it’s one of the only trees you’ll see in any of the windows… and it’s awesome!

But I’m even more excited about coming up to Greenville the weekend of the 19th to do a little Politically Correct, Non-Denominational, Winter Holiday improv!  See you all there!

My New Obsession

Now, I realize that some of you probably discovered this long before I did… and I don’t care.

Because now that I have discovered it… I’m dropping out of my masters program, and I’m going to get a PhD in Horribleness.

As if I didn’t already want to stalk Neil Patrick Harris… then he has to go do something with Joss Whedon… and completely blow my mind!

There… that’s your peek into Jen’s mind for the day.  Scary, isn’t it?

Random Hilarity

I’m sorry we haven’t been posting much lately.  Jen’s in the middle of finals, so blogging isn’t always making it to the top of the to-do list.  But I stumbled across the Sexy People blog the other day, and I had to share it… because it might be the best thing ever in the history of the world.  Unless you find yourself on it… in which case… well… just assume we’re laughing with you.

And hey… take the poll over the the righthand side of our blog… it validates me.
