New Ideas for a New Carolina

Guess what?  We at The Distracted Globe have ideas.  Yeah!  Sometimes that happens!  Weird, huh?  Well, even weirder, sometimes we tell people about those ideas!  And this year, we submitted one of those ideas to New Carolina’s New Ideas for a New Carolina competition.  And now, it’s sitting on the ballot in the wildcard category, waiting to be voted on by normal people like you, so that it can be passed on to Stephen Colbert’s wife for judging.  And… since Stephen never responded to any of our challenges during his short-lived campaign (big sissy), I’m pretty sure she owes us.  But here’s the thing… we need people to vote us into the top five ideas.  So head on over to the website, click on the vote button, and vote for this idea:

"A performing arts organization that will build working partnerships between community amateur groups and professional performing arts groups to focus statewide attention on South Carolina artistic resources."

It’s a rather dry way of explaining that we want to do a progressive theatre festival, bringing productions from all over the state through each other’s venues.  It’ll be awesome!  Vote for us!  Voting closes May 14.  So get out the vote!

And… I promise not to slam any of the other ideas, or demand 27 debates with them, or call in a bunch of way more important South Carolinians to try to overturn the vote, or dig up completely irrelevant people from the ideas’ past to discredit it…  So really… this election (as stated by Ms. Kluge) is far less painful than that other one.

There.  That’s us campaigning.  And that’s really it!  Even if you don’t vote for us, do vote for someone.  This is an important event for an important organization that is doing a lot of good stuff in South Carolina (for sake of transparency… I know about New Carolina because of the work we do for them at Brains on Fire).
