Today a coworker of mine brought up an article in a new magazine he had discovered:

That is correct. GARDEN & GUN magazine. Even scarier is the subline:
21st Century Southern America
Apparently that sums up the South. Gardens and Guns. Why not just call it Little Old Ladies and Rednecks?
{sigh}

I’m disappointed that this stereotype is something people are proud of…

Garden and Gun is a great magazine. Sorry you feel like it is all the South is about.

Jason - I gotta say… that was kinda my point… that’s NOT all the South is about… but that tagline sure makes it sound like it. Of course the main part is… ya know… comedy group! Will poke fun! As my dad (and Bill Murray) would say, “Lighten up, Francis!” {grin} Thanks for commenting! And keep comin’ back!

Have you heard of the subsidiary by bob jones for this magazine? Flowers and Fag Haters?

What may be more alarming is that someone left a copy in the Children’s Theatre waiting room. What may be more disturbing than THAT is that I let it stay because there WERE some interesting articles. But I turn the cover over when I pass it because the title still creeps me out…

ayyy yai yai….I know I am a Southerner by heritage..but I like to imagine as far back as my Welsh lineage to help deal with some of the phenomenon that happens in the South….
