More YouTube
Apparently, I am addicted to YouTube.
Apparently, I am addicted to YouTube.
I’m playing with some crazy web tools. So let’s see if this works:
PS - It worked! Enjoy the Hay Fever slide show!
We have one more weekend of improv this Friday and Saturday - following the one last weekend of Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune on The Warehouse Theatre main stage. You can read The Beat’s review here or The Greenville News’ review here. And then you can have an awesome weekend of great entertainment. See how nicely that works out for you?
Anyway… so that this post isn’t just some lame flier on the blogosphere… here’s something amusing from YouTube. The woman in this video is clearly nuts… but it still made us giggle!
See you this weekend!
This has nothing to do with anything… but I saw this commercial last night and could not stop laughing. So… enjoy!
This has been a very busy weekend for us. Last night we had the extreme pleasure of doing a private performance over dinner for The Greenville County Youth Orchestra. They were a fantastic audience, they were good sports, they were even brave enough to get up and play with us on a few games. And, I just have to tell you, improv talents aside, these are some talented kids. We were only able to stick around long enough to hear some warm-ups… and they are just plain good. They had only begun rehearsing together a few days ago, and they already sounded like they’d been together for years. Do yourself a favor. Make sure to stop by to hear them play some time this year! Not to be missed!
Then, after what turned out to be a stellar warm-up, we went back home to The Warehouse Theatre for a late night improv performance after their performance of Frankie and Johnny at the Clair de Lune. The show was an awful lot of fun… and in the audience we had a new crop of students from The Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. That’s two groups of ridiculously talented teens in one evening… not to mention the marvelous grown-ups at both performance as well. Big night. And we’ve got another show tonight. All kinds of fun! And, of course, we’ll do the whole late night thing again next weekend. Phew!
Okay… so it turns out that Jared is brilliant… and he reminded me that I could upload Anne’s radio interview onto YouTube! So I did! Isn’t that neat! Because of YouTube’s space limitations, I had to split it up into two parts… but it’s there. And there are some amusing visuals to go with it. Well… maybe not that amusing. But they amuse me. And that’s what counts. So here are the links:
Last night our very own Anne appeared… or spoke… or whatever you say for the radio… on RadioBeat with James Shannon and Roxanne Walker on 103.3 WOLT. Now, if I could figure out how, I would embed the audio file of the interview. But, alas, I have not progressed quite that far in my web programming abilities (but I will… oh yes… I will!), so I’ll just have to give you some of the highlights.
The eloquent and witty Ms. Tromsness spoke about our upcoming shows this weekend, the Distracted Players, past roles, Karl Rove, the blog, the website… it was really a great interview. So kudos to Anne! And all of you out there, make sure to tune in Monday-Friday from 6:00-7:00 to hear more from James and Roxanne. They really seem to have their fingers on the pulse of what’s going on around G-Vegas!
I have a little tradition around this time each year. You see, this time every year, Beloit College comes out with The Beloit Mindset List. It’s a list of events and common experiences, etc. shared by the incoming freshman class - this year they’re the class of 2011. So, I read The Mindset List… and then I spend the rest of the day feeling really, really old. Anyway, they just released this year’s list… and I just sat around feeling old. So I thought you might also enjoy the experience of rolling your eyes, heaving sighs and making remarks about "those whippersnappers" who have no idea how good they have it.
And hey… if you feel like commiserating… leave a comment here about the item on the list that most appalled you. Or, if you happen to be one of those whippersnappers, you can leave a comment telling us how old we are or how you read about that Berlin Wall thing in a history book one time.
And then we’ll all beat you soundly with our walkers.
Hey gang! This is Jen… writing from the floor next to a plug at Denver International Airport. That’s right. I winged my way home this weekend for the terrifying (and incredibly anti-climactic) event of my 10-year high school reunion… and now… because it’s raining in the Midwest… my butt hurts.
I decided to write this as Jen instead of as "The Distracted Globe" or whatever… because this post has nothing to do with anything other than me killing time while I sit here.
I am working on our lineup for this weekend’s shows though… so I guess that’s related.
Still, at this point, my flight is delayed to a point that I am now scheduled to land in Chicago about 5 minutes before my connecting flight is scheduled to take off. And yes, I have mapped out my route from arriving at gate K9 and departing from gate G14. This is one of those times when the $7.99 to access the airport’s wireless is TOTALLY worth it. Not only can I obsessively check my flight status, I can also write irrelevant blog posts. Go me!
Of course… at this moment, I have an exciting update. I was typing the line about obsessinvely checking my flight status… and my name was paged from above. That’s never good.
I proceeded to my gate… where they rebooked me on a different flight through Texas - they even moved my bags over from my original flight to this new flight. How awesome is that?
So there ya go. I’ll sit here on the floor for about another half hour (all the while, working up brilliant line ups for our shows this weekend… see how I’m keeping this post relevant?) and then I’m on a plane to the gigantic DFW… and on home to GSP! Wish me luck and good airline karma!
Hey gang! A while back, I posted the photos from this summer’s production of Hay Fever on our website. And they’re good photos. But, as Jared pointed out to me a few days ago, I had forgotten to put links on the website that would allow you to actually see those photos. Oops. So, today I went over to the website and did a little linking, and now the photos are not only posted, but you can actually navigate to them. Imagine that!
And just in time for our next set of shows coming up this weekend. Go figure! Remember, feel free to let us know what you’d like to see from us - games, subjects, themes, etc. - in the comments of our blog. Who knows, you just might get what you ask for!
